Madurai Health and Leprosy Relief Centre (MAHELERECEN) is a Non-Profitable Charitable Registered organization in Madurai District. it is rendering health services of Health education, Case Detection, Treatment, and Rehabilitation since 1991. our org has 370 leprosy sufferers are taking treatment (Chemotherapy)
treatment, out of this 75 cases are having deformity complaint.

Vision, Mission and Objectives :

  1. Eradication of leprosy in Madurai and around the district..
  2. Leprosy patent’s community development ,
  3. Rehabilitation for leprosy disabled,
  4. General Health education regarding infectious diseases.
  5. HIV/AIDS awareness programme.
  6. Community developmental related Research and development.
  7. Skin diseases awareness programme,

Achievements :

  • Our organization conducted Health Education activities in Educational institutions, Factory workers and rural public.
  • New cases detected in early stage, they are taking treatment in our organization. 95 % of cases getting cured.
  • New leprosy cases are detected through our survey activity,
  • Our recorded cases are 370 among this 75 cases are deformed.
  • 25 deformed cases received MCR chapels in every year.
  • Through our Rehabilitation programme 38 patents are benefited.
  • Every month we are giving Physiotherapy treatment to the deformed cases in our mobile clinic.
  • The leprosy prevalence is getting down 3/1000 to 1/1000.
