What can I do if I think a seller’s shipping costs are too high or unfair?

If you intend to sell on one or more of eBay's international sites, you will need to accept, and we encourage you to carefully review, the User Agreement, policies, and other requirements of that site. You can continue to reach out to the relevant customer service teams on the respective eBay site of your listing or transaction, as may be applicable to the nature of your query.

eBay doesn't permit sellers to list items with excessive shipping and handling charges. These charges can confuse buyers about the real cost of an item and may reduce the amount of buyer protection coverage available for a purchase.

Make sure you:

  • Review the listing carefully if you are unsure about a seller's shipping cost.

eBay recommends that sellers charge for the actual cost of the shipping and packaging materials. Sellers may also charge a reasonable handling fee. Sellers should describe in their listings any charges that might seem higher than normal or higher than shipping charges for similar items on eBay. (For example, special packing or other extra services might add to shipping charges and need to be described in the listing.) eBay also encourages sellers to provide a detailed list of their charges in the item description so that buyers know exactly what their shipping costs are.

  • Contact the seller, after reviewing the listing, to ask about shipping if the shipping costs are not clear.

If you think that a seller's shipping costs are too high or unfair, eBay recommends that you not bid on or purchase the item. You can report the listing to us by clicking the "Report this item" link at the bottom of the listing. eBay will review the listing and take appropriate action.
