Police, Army, Navy, Airforce Related Items

If you intend to sell on one or more of eBay's international sites, you will need to accept, and we encourage you to carefully review, the User Agreement, policies, and other requirements of that site. You can continue to reach out to the relevant customer service teams on the respective eBay site of your listing or transaction, as may be applicable to the nature of your query.

Generally, you may not list current Law Enforcement or Emergency Services army, navy or airforce badges (National or International) and other related items on eBay.

Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:

  • Listing cancellation

  • Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings

  • Limits placed on account privileges

  • Loss of PowerSeller status

  • Account suspension

The following list contains a non-exclusive list of police, army, navy, airforce-related items that may not be listed on eBay:

  • Defence Force or Police badges or patches

  • Quasi-law enforcement badges (e.g., other emergency services badges)

  • State , National or International Law Enforcement badges

  • Imitation or replica Law Enforcement badges

  • Movie theatre prop badges

  • Identification or warrant cards

  • Warrant Card wallets or holders

  • "Badge patches"

  • Raid jackets

  • Official current or recent issue police or emergency services (Fire Brigade and Ambulance) uniforms including cloth shoulder patches

  • Badges, patches or uniforms issued by private security companies

Further, emergency services and law enforcement agencies generally prohibit any commercial reproduction of their name, seal or logo. Therefore, copies or reproductions of emergency services or law enforcement emblems are banned. Such items infringe upon the copyright and trademark rights of the agency that owns the emblem.

Is there anyway that I can list a Defense Forces' or law enforcement or emergency services badge or current Indian shoulder patch on eBay?
Yes, you may list a Defense Forces', law enforcement or emergency services badge or a current Indian shoulder patch if:

  • The law enforcement organisation that issues the badge or patch states in writing that it does not object to the sale of the item, and

  • You post a copy of that letter with a valid law enforcement contact (name and phone number) on the site with the item.

You may also list the following police-related items on eBay:

  • Historical badges that do not resemble modern law enforcement badges , provided that the item description must clearly state that the badge is a historical piece or issued by now defunct organisation

  • Authorised general souvenir items, such as hats, mugs, pins, pens, buttons, cuff links, t-shirts, money clips that do not resemble badges, and paperweights that do not contain badges

  • Badges that are clearly not official (e.g., plastic or cartoon badges)

Radar Detectors The sale of items that assist in the avoidance of approved speeding detection devices is not permitted on the site.Accordingly radar detectors and items (by way of application or by attachment to a motor vehicle) that will obstruct the recording of a registration plate from camera dependant detection device are not permitted to be listed on eBay.

We're concerned that individuals may use a badge or other related item to misrepresent themselves as either a Law Enforcement officer or an Emergency Services worker or a member of the Army, Navy or Airforce to the public. Hence eBay has decided not to permit the listing of police related items as described above.
