If you intend to sell on one or more of eBay's international sites, you will need to accept, and we encourage you to carefully review, the User Agreement, policies, and other requirements of that site. You can continue to reach out to the relevant customer service teams on the respective eBay site of your listing or transaction, as may be applicable to the nature of your query.
eBay has special rules limiting who can sell travel-related items on eBay, and what can be sold. Sellers who want to list travel-related items must adhere to all rules outlined in the Examples section below.
Air Travel is a restricted category. To sell contact us at reincategory@ebay.com
Providers of Travel
A business that actually provides the travel service, such as airlines, trains, coach companies, cruise operators, tourist resort operators, hotels or resorts may list items such as their own gift certificates, packages or services. However, when listing an item the travel provider should clearly identify themselves as the actual providers of the service being offered.
Travel Agents, Promoters and other Businesses offering travel services
Businesses and individuals, who sell, advertise or arrange travel services (but do not directly provide the travel service themselves) such as travel agents, tour operators etc may list travel services on eBay provided that they are licenced to provide such services in India. The listing should clearly indicate any memberships to international organisations such as the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and United Federation of Travel Agents' Associations (UFTAA).They may not, however list any travel service prohibited by eBay as set out below.
Airline Tickets and Travel Vouchers
Many airline tickets and travel vouchers are not transferable, and sellers should review any travel related item prior to listing to ensure that it can be legally transferred to another party and furthermore, will be accepted by the issuing provider of the travel services.
Frequent Flyer Points, Airline Club Memberships and Guest Passes
Generally, frequent flyer points and Airline Club Memberships or guest passes to airlines lounges are not transferable and these items are not permitted to be listed on eBay.
Travel Club Memberships and "Choice Travel" Certificates
eBay will not permit listings of travel club memberships or "choice travel" certificates or items of a similar nature. Travel Club memberships include any service, cards or identification number that purports to give the holder the free right or discounted travel, that is, certificates which entitle the holder thereof, to some travel related benefit such as free or low cost hotel stays. Choice Travel certificates are documents that are not issued directly by a single provider of travel, but by travel wholesalers, consolidators, or other middleman travel sellers. These certificates generally offer the holder free or low cost travel services with a choice of multiple hotel chains, resorts or airlines, with the exact location often being at the choice of the buyer or seller. In many cases the use of these services require additional purchases and are in violation of eBay's fee circumvention policy, as such these items may not be listed on eBay by any user.
While it is the responsibility of the individual traveller to prepare adequately for any local or overseas travel, eBay requires sellers to clearly advise in their listings any relevant travel advisory issued by the Government of India, Ministry of Tourism.
eBay urges its sellers and buyers to comply with all governmental laws and regulations. Since the sale of travel related items is highly regulated, or may cause harm to eBay or its members, sellers are restricted in their listing of them on eBay.
