Virtual currency policy

Effective 13 July, 2021, listings for virtual currency are not allowed. Listings for certain accessories that do not include virtual currency are allowed as detailed below.

What is the policy?

The sale of virtual currency is prohibited on eBay.

The following are not allowed:

  • Virtual currency including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other cryptocurrencies

  • Virtual currency mining contracts

  • Virtual currency paper wallets

The following are allowed provided the item does not include virtual currency:

  • Virtual currency mining hardware

  • Virtual currency hardware wallets

  • Collectible physical coins in compliance with our policy

Activity that doesn't follow eBay policy could result in a range of actions including, for example: administratively ending or canceling listings, hiding or demoting all listings from search results, lowering seller rating, buying or selling restrictions, and account suspension. All fees paid or payable in relation to listings or accounts on which we take any action will not be refunded or otherwise credited to your account.

Why does eBay have this policy?

Certain items are not allowed to be listed when eBay manages payments.
