Selling using a fixed price

When you sell an item at a fixed price, your buyers have the convenience of buying the item immediately at a known price.

Choosing a fixed price format

Depending on whether you want to allow bidding on your item, you can either:

  • Create a fixed price listing, with no bidding allowed

  • Create an auction-style listing and add the option so that buyers can choose whether to buy your item right away or compete in the auction

With either option your listing will appear whenever buyers search or browse on eBay. The icon next to the item lets buyers know that they can buy it right away.

  • For auction-style listings: If more than 12 hours remain before the listing ends, you might be able to add, edit, or remove a Buy It Now price as long as the listing has not received any bids.

  • For fixed price listings: You can edit the Buy It Now price.

Changing your fixed price listings to auction-style listings

You can convert your fixed price listings to auction-style listings using My eBay.

To change your fixed price listings to auction-style listings:
  1. Click My eBay at the top of most eBay pages. You may be asked to sign in.

  2. In the Sell section, click the Active link.

  3. Select the check box next to the listings you want to send to online auction.

  4. Click the Send to Online Auction button.

  5. Edit the format for your listings by clicking the Edit button and choosing Format.

  6. On the Review & Submit page, verify your changes, and then click the Submit button.

If you choose to send a multi-quantity fixed price listing to auction, we'll create a single item auction-style listing and remove 1 of your items from the multi-quantity fixed price listing. If you choose to send a single-quantity fixed price listing to auction, we'll create a new single item auction-style listing and end the fixed price listing.

Note: Neither of these changes will happen until you click the Submit button.
