Here's the The SHOCKING Truth !!!
These soft, pliable Philips earphones are quite comfortable to wear and the sound quality is really quite decent.
I remember buying a similar set a few years ago. They were a bit expensive at the time - but now they can be purchased very cheap. So I bought a few pair.
The major drawback: The diaphragms are made of a thin metal. If you are walking around the house, on a cold, dry day, static electricity builds up and can occasionally deliver a rather painful electric shock. It's like the kind of static spark you get when touching a doorknob or other ungrounded metal, except it happens inside your ears, with a crackling sound - OUCH!
If you are considering these headphones, you should look for some way to insulate the metal diaphragm from your skin (maybe a piece of electric tape or the rubber covers from another pair of old headphones.
I did not have this problem with the pair that I bought years ago (I purchased those at Walgreens, in original packaging).
These headphones arrived with no manufacturers packaging - so it's possible that they are fake knock-offs. Either way they are excellent headphones (once the static issue is dealt with), and the price is a bargain.
I will be buying more, because they are still the most comfortable headphones I have tried, and I want to have a bunch on hand, in case they ever disappear from the market.
