1958 Indonesia 5000 Rupiah Currency Note - Uncirculated Condition (UU143)
23 Feb, 2018
Bank Indonesia 1958 5,000 Rupiah banknote "Woman holding rice stalks"
This banknote is the highest denomination of the 1958 banknote series named Manual Workers issued by the Indonesian Central Bank. The large masses did not often use this banknote because 5,000 rupiah was considered a lot of money at that time. This note has two varieties, namely the Purple and Brown ones. It is no surprise now that this note has become the highly sought item among collectors. Below is the lower denomination in the Manual Workers series: 1,000 rupiah showing silver jewelry carver (two colors: Purple and Brownish red) 500 rupiah showing coconut breaker 100 rupiah showing rubber tapper 50 rupiah showing woman cloth spinner 25 rupiah showing woman cloth weaver 10 rupiah showing wooden statue carver 5 rupiah showing woman Batik cloth painter

This banknote aims to promote a rare musical instrument called Sasando
Sasando musical instrument is from a far and isolated island in Indonesia called Rote. In fact, few Indonesians know about this musical instrument so the government wants to popularize it by issuing paper money where the masses can understand what it is.
